ECHO (Extension of Community Healthcare Outcomes)
Description:
A teleconferencing platform used to coach and support district nurses, and nursing and residential care home staff during the pandemic. They could access online meetings to learn about infection control, Verification of Life Extinct, and advice and education at a time when the need for reduced footfall into care facilities placed extra caring demands on staff.
Barriers:
Digital literacy and suitable device to host the platform; internet access.
Enablers:
Vital peer support for nursing and care staff during a time of extreme pressure, the online meetings can be accessed on a computer, smart phone or tablet.
Outcomes for patient:
Regularly updated advice and education for staff on patient care. Opportunities for staff to share, support and learn from each other during the sessions.
